First swim

Hanging out poolside with Dad. He's checking out the place before we go swimming.

Testing out the water. He splashed around a bit before actually getting in.

Spending time with Mama while Dad swims. He's also keeping up with Dad's glasses. So helpful!

Prayers for Reid

Please keep little Reid and his family in your thoughts and prayers. He will be having lip repair surgery today.
Isn't he a cutie?

Mealtime

Ian has really enjoyed eating solids 3 times a day. He wakes up around 7 every morning, has a 6 oz. bottle, and some kind of fruit. I usually mix the plain fruits like applesauce and bananas with oatmeal cereal to give them a thicker consistency. It seems to stay in his mouth a bit easier. He's also tried prunes, pear/blueberry with oatmeal already mixed in, and apples with vanilla and mixed grains already added. He seems to like all the fruits. He has another bottle after his morning nap. Every now and then he will get some apple juice in a sippy cup and a cookie before midday nap time. Most of the juice ends up in his tummy, but some does end up on his tummy. He has taken well to the idea of the sippy cup, but is still learning exactly how it works. Lunchtime is around 1. Fruits are usually on the menu again, but sometimes it's veggies. Another bottle follows afternoon nap. Dinner is around 7. We already know he's not a big green bean fan, but I still give them to him. Last night he ate some with sweet potatoes, which he really enjoys. I don't want to give up on the greens all together. Hopefully he will develop some liking for them. He has also had turkey, ham, spring veggies with rice, carrots, squash, and peas for dinner.

Chocolate, strawberries, milk, honey, corn, and eggs are still on the no-no list for allergy reasons. I think he has plenty to tide him over until then.

Baptism

Ian was Baptized Sunday. After church, family and close friends joined us for a meal at my mom's house. Everything was wonderful! We were so blessed to have our loved ones there to celebrate. Thank you to everyone who came! It means more than you know!

Splishing and a splashing

Ian just started using his big boy tub. He loves sitting up during bathtime and splashing all the water. The toys are fun too, but I think he'd be satisfied with just a bucket of water. I wanted to capture his expressions with the camera, but I knew it would get soaked if I did.

Attempts at crawling

He's getting there. Every day he gets a little more sure of himself. Of course, he is crawling backwards, but it's a start. He was scooting around today and kept running into things. He would get frustrated when he ran out of space, so I would start him back in the middle of the room and sure enough, he would be backed into something again after a few minutes.

Yummy biscuit

Ian got to try his first teething biscuit. When I handed it to him, he looked at me like, "What am I supposed to do with this thing?". The doctor was right, these things do make a mess...a big slobbery mess. Ian seems to enjoy them and that's what it's all about.

Six month pediatrician visit

Ian weighs 15.2 pounds and is 26 inches long, which puts him at the 15% for both. He's a little guy, but he's growing well. The doctor did not seem concerned with his size. We're going to start feeding 3 solid meals a day, which Ian will enjoy. Before he was getting only 1 solid meal. He can start eating pretty much any solid food, including teething biscuits, with the exception of chocolate, strawberries, eggs, and honey. I'm looking forward to seeing his reaction to the new tastes. He already likes everything to he's eaten, except green beans, so I'm sure he'll be excited.

We knew Ian was teething because he's been such a drooling machine. However, we had not seen any teeth until yesterday. When he was crying after being poked, he opened his mouth enough to see 2 little white lines just below the gums. The white was visible, but the teeth have yet to break the skin. Soon though...very soon.

I was finally able to capture some pictures of Ian and Jaime playing. They are quite the pair.

Six months old already!

I can't believe 6 months have already passed! He's getting to be such a big boy. Sometimes I think he believes he's bigger and more able than he really is. I know he's looking forward to being more mobile, but I'm a bit anxious because he is going to get into everything! Oh well, it's going to be fun.
